How does it work?

StartChalet offers a collection of ski chalets and apartments for rent for you to browse. When you have found chalets or apartments that fit your holiday plans, you can contact the owners or agents of the properties by email or telephone with your enquiry or to make further arrangements. StartChalet is not part of these arrangements, to ensure you get the best deal directly with the owner or agent. The chalets and apartments on StartChalet are created and maintained by the advertiser, we publish them in good faith as we don't manage or inspect the properties. We advise you to do proper due diligence before entering into any agreement. StartChalet is not a party to that agreement between you and the property owner/manager.

 

Do I pay anything to StartChalet?

The traveler does not pay anything to StartChalet. The site is maintained and funded from a low annual contribution that the chalet owners pay to StartChalet to have their property on the website. 

 

What role does StartChalet play in the booking process?

What if I have a question before I decide to book?

Via the button "Contact owner" on the chalet presentation page, you can telephone the agent or owner or send email, to address any questions you may have. In fact, we recommend you to call the owner as part of your due diligence.

 

How do I make a booking?

Once you have contacted the owner or agent via email or telephone, he/she will explain the further process for their property to you. Typically this involves a rental agreement. 

 

What precautions should I take before entering into an agreement or transferring money?

Use common sense - you know the saying: 'if an offer is too good to be true, it probably is...'. Search for the chalet online: is it listed on reputable sites with the same contact details? Have you spoken to the owner by phone, and does he/she know the property well? Only make the booking when you are confident enough it is o.k. for you to enter into an agreement with the property owner or agent. StartChalet is not part of that agreement. The chalets and apartments on StartChalet are created and maintained by the advertiser, we publish them in good faith - we don't manage or inspect the properties.

 

What should I do if I do not receive a response to my enquiry?

Owners usually respond within 24h after receiving your StartChalet enquiry form. If not, please use the telephone number listed. There is nothing against contacting more properties simultaneously before making your final choice.

How does it work?

StartChalet is a website that enables ski-accommodation owners to advertise and promote their property and receive enquiries in relation to the property. Holiday makers can browse the properties on the website to find the right vacation rental for them. They can then contact the owner/agent with an email enquiry or phone call, and potentially enter into a rental agreement with them directly.

 

Do I pay you a commission out of my rental income?

No, StartChalet does not charge 12 to 20% of your rental income as some websites do. The low annual fee is sufficient to advertise your property on StartChalet and hopefully get lots of bookings from it.

 

Who handles the bookings? What role does StartChalet play in the process?

Holiday-makers that are interested in your chalet or apartment will contact you directly so you can make arrangements with them directly (including booking agreement, deposit handling, etcetera). StartChalet has no role in that process. If you are new to this, we can help you to set up your process.

 

In what order do the listings appear on the website?

There are three things that determine the order: premium subscriptions come before standard subscriptions, and within each group, attractiveness of your property to holiday makers (photos, description, pricing, availability) and how recently you have updated your calendar.

 

Is it possible to synchronize my calendar?

At this moment, we are not satisfied with the systems available on the market and therefore have not made it possible. What we have done is ensuring that on StartChalet updating the calendar and rates is extremely easy. Most chalets are rented out by the week - we have fully accommodated the site for it which makes updating much easier than with many other sites. 

 

Can I get a link to my personal website?

Yes. At no extra charge.
